Following on from her reflection about ‘True Surrender’, Liz was listening to a sermon from CLM Church in Coventry, UK. Pastor Martin Storey was preaching about ‘Arise to Shine.’
“What struck me as I listened was: God IS at work. God is not on pause. Arise and come into what God is doing. We do not need to make ourselves shine brighter because Jesus is the Light in us. The Light has come and we just need to reflect it to others.”
In the UK right now the ‘rule of 6’ dictates how many people can meet in most circumstances. Other rules and laws are being put in place to create more restrictions in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19. There is an atmosphere of frustration, confusion and, for many people, despair as people are facing all the uncertainties of a tough Autumn and Winter.
But God is calling us to join in what He is doing NOW! There is a world in waiting for us to shine His Light through our lives.
Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
‘Lift up your eyes and look about you:
all assemble and come to you;
your sons come from afar,
and your daughters are carried on the hip.
Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy;
the wealth on the seas will be brought to you,
to you the riches of the nations will come.
