One of the aims of the Beacon of Hope is to encourage those reading that there are still ways of sharing Jesus with those around us even if we have to socially distance or even shield. As easter is upon us maybe you are feeling a bit cut off still? Maybe you are missing your ‘usual’ easter services?
God speaks to us all in different ways. For many people songs break through the silence and speak straight to the soul. So below is a collection of songs we have compiled that you might find helpful for reflecting over the next few days. Why not take 5 mins a day to have a listen to one of them and see what God wants to say to you through them?
Here is an example from this Holy Week: One of our Missioners wrote to us: ‘I was drawn to reading the Easter story in my Bible with fresh eyes by a new sung arrangement of the Easter Hallelujah. Perhaps it will help you to centre your attention too so that The Lord can speak to you. Have a blessed and beautiful time with our Risen Saviour Jesus – Hallelujah!’
Good Friday
Forever – Kari Jobe: This song speaks of the darkness and pain felt not only by Jesus and humanity but the whole of creation on Good Friday.
At the Cross – Chris Tomlin This song focuses on what Jesus did on the cross and helps us focus on what we can do at the cross.
Easter Saturday
Crushing Snakes – Crowder: Easter Saturday can often be forgotten as we are keen to move from Good Friday to the glory of Resurrection Sunday. This song clearly speaks of the battle we are in…the battle that Jesus engaged with on easter Saturday…
Remembrance – Hillsong Worship: Easter is not a thing to remember in the past but as this song says, living our life in this season every day.
Resurrection Sunday
Still Rolling Stones – Lauren Daigle: We live in the presence of a God who is in the habit of miracles. He is still rolling sones…he rose Jesus from the dead what stone can he roll away in your life?
He Lives – Alfred Ackley: This song calls us to live differently because our saviour lives! It reminds us Jesus didn’t just live in bible times but he lives today.
Because He Lives – Passion City Church: The title of this song says it all really…because Jesus rose from the dead and lives today there is so much we can do!! All fear is gone and God holds our future.
