Fast and Pray Friday

For a number of years we have set aside the last Friday of the month as a day to fast and pray for the Inspire Movement. We are not stopping this year!

Mark the dates in your diary, calendar, planner, on the fridge, in your bible… wherever you are going to be reminded. And if you are on the Inspire Prayer Messaging Group join us in reminding another!

Here are the dates for the coming months: 

FRIDAYS

  • 26 February
  • 26 March
  • 30 April
  • 28 May
  • 25 June

We would also like to encourage you to think about fasting and praying every Friday. 

“Do you long for a deeper walk with God? Do you hunger to become more like Jesus? Do you thirst for the joy of a Spirit filled life? Then develop the habit of fasting or abstinence.”

“The disciplines of fasting is not rooted in proving how serious we are, or how determined we are to resist temptation, or how desperate we are to see answers to our prayers. These might well be Christian virtues, and benefits of fasting, but the proper motivation is a longing for more of God, a hungering for the godly life, a desire to seek God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.” 

Maybe you could try fasting and/or join us for our Friday’s of fasting and prayer. Here are a few suggestions:

  • The Introduction to Missional Discipleship course on the School of Discipleship talks about spiritual disciplines as part of the Way of Life. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
  • The season of Lent begins on 17th Feb 2021, so perhaps that would be a good opportunity to take up the practice of fasting or abstinence in order to form a good habit that you can keep going with.
  • We include fasting in our Lenten resource for children and families. If you’d like to help us try it out then do get in touch.

  • Talk to an Inspire Missioner about how fellowship bands can help you fast and pray.
