Give – Fast – Pray

We encourage people to develop a regular habit of fasting, prayer and giving to cultivate greater intimacy with God, a deeper relationship with Jesus, a fuller experience of community, and a more challenging life of mission.

It is good to GIVE – take something up – to help us to:

  • Share all that Father God has given to us.
  • Show Jesus love to others.
  • Celebrate new life in the Spirit.

It is good to FAST – give something up – to help us to:

  • Seek a deeper life in the Father’s love.
  • Rely on Jesus as He relied on the fullness of the Spirit during his 40 days in the desert.
  • Celebrate the power of the Spirit that raises people from the dead!

It is good to PRAY – to help us to:

  • Draw near to Father God.
  • Grow to be more like Jesus.
  • Celebrate all that the Spirit does in and through us.

Here are a few opportunities that might help you give, fast and pray:

GIVE

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Luke 6:38 NLT

This promise for YOU, for your family, and for your fellowship. If you are not sure how to claim it, or would like to chat about how what that might look like, then we would love to talk and pray with you. Contact us confidentially: [email protected]

FAST

John Wesley taught the early Methodist movement to fast as an expression of their longing for more of God, the intention to grow in grace, and a willingness to deny themselves anything that might get in the way.‘ (Practical Guide to the Discipline of Fasting, Philip Meadows, Inspire Publishing 2023)

We invite you to grow in your love of God and encounter the power of the Spirit as we gather in fellowship with Jesus in our Fasting Study Group. We use the book Practical Guide to the Discipline of Fasting and a number of other resources to reflect on the disciplines of fasting and prayer and to help one another to practice these means of grace. Our previous study groups have been transformative for everyone that has participated. Here is one of the reflections from last time:

“Fasting brings truth into my life but the amazing thing about God revealing my heart is that I also see how much God loves me and shows me his mercy and grace through the blood of Jesus.”

You do not have to have any prior experience, or even knowledge, of fasting to join in. If you have already participated in this group you are welcome to join us again. The only prerequisite is being hungry for more of Jesus.

The Fasting Study Group usually runs during Advent and Lent but we can organise a group at any time of year. You can find details of the scheduled groups and register HERE. Or if the day or times are not possible get in touch: [email protected]

PRAY

Inspire Prayer Gatherings bring people together to seek more of God for ourselves and the Inspire Movement. We listen to Jesus and pray together for the fullness of the Spirit.

We meet on Zoom four times a year (Feb/Mar, May/June, Sept and Dec) Everyone is welcome so invite your friends, fellowship band, small group or neighbours.

The Zoom links are posted in our monthly Prayer Bowl. Subscribe to the Prayer Bowl HERE. You can also contact us if you would like the Zoom link for the Prayer Gathering sending to your email: [email protected]

The Inspire Prayer Group uses a secure messaging app (Signal Messenger) to share up-to-date prayer requests, answers to prayer, insights and encouragements. To join the prayer group the minimum commitment is to read messages and pray. If you would like to you can also post responses, requests and prayers.
