Jesus is the Light of the World – all year round!

Ben went to a Christingle service with his Mum in February – yes, we said February! Every year All Saints Church in Chester, have their annual Christingle service at the beginning of February. They host the service after school one evening and invite the local primary school. This year the preacher began by talking about how totally amazing the stars are. He invited the children to talk about what amazing things they had seen. All their stories, with the exception of one, were things they had seen on the T.V. or video games. The only one that was ‘real’ was a child that said they had seen a ‘beautiful sky’ one day, but they couldn’t name that as a sunset. Ben and his Mum were very sad that not one child mentioned God, and that the experiences of ‘amazing’ were all in the virtual realms or unknown. The preacher went on to talk about how bright one star is, but how Jesus is more like a supernova, the brightest of all. As they lit their candles, Ben and his Mum stood close together to make the candlelight even brighter. Their prayers were that the light of Jesus would shine in people’s lives and that they would see and know who He is. “Help us Lord Jesus to reflect more of your light in our lives, so that people will recognise who you are, and receive you light into their everyday lives.” Amen.

“Using this format (fellowship band), and the ideas from Inspire has been the most formative and indeed inspiring ‘thing’ for want of a better word, that I have been part of for years.”

“Thanks so much for the teaching sessions this year. I found them inspirational and I love the discussion format – it really engages those present, and we learn so much more than listening to a talk. It is one of the few places that ministers get “fed” and so is very valuable to us”

“From the Inspire sessions, I have being trying to practice the Presence of God in a more consistent way and am slowly improving! I have found this good, and I am so reminded of His presence during the day and at the end of the day. I am much more aware of the Holy Spirit … Continue reading
