The start of our journey began in the context of leading worship together. Both of us helped lead the youth group in worship music on a regular basis. Then we got to know each other more on a mission trip to Chicago. Shortly after this trip we started dating and knew early on that we would get married! We’ve now been married five years and have one child, Lucy!
We knew early in our relationship God was calling us to a specific ministry. The only problem was we had absolutely no idea what that would look like in the future! We only knew our next step was to attend Asbury Theological Seminary. After some reluctance from Anthony’s part he applied to Asbury. Anthony got accepted and was offered a scholarship that would help pay for most of the tuition costs. During this time Kylie worked for a hospital in Danville, KY and now has been working as a hospice RN in Lexington, KY for the past 3 years.
The most difficult transition moving from Cape Girardeau to Wilmore was searching for a new church and an authentic community. God used this time of transition to deepen our understanding of his church and what living in authentic fellowship with others really looks like. Through Anthony’s studies, and our experiences of attending different churches, God renewed our passion for Him and stirred up a desire to see people committed to a life of discipleship. We believe God is leading us into that kind of ministry.
In the Fall semester, 2017, we had the opportunity to get to know Phil and Sam Meadows, the founders of the Inspire Movement. This ministry aligns with what we have felt God calling us to do after seminary, and we believe God has brought us together for this season to share and work together in developing mission-shaped disciples. We’ve committed to work with Inspire, as Missioners, through the 2020 school year. We’ve already seen God work in miraculous ways through Inspire’s ministry. We’re equally excited and expectant to see God work in powerful ways the next few years as we serve in Wilmore. Please contact us if you’d like to talk about Inspire and what we’re doing in Wilmore!
Blessings,
Anthony & Kylie Watts
