It’s hard to believe that we are here at Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, KY, USA! (Aug 2024) We recently heard someone quote John 3:8, and it resonated with us a lot: “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” We are living out the story God has for us, and it’s one we wouldn’t have expected or envisioned ourselves. But we know it’s good. We’re super excited to study counseling, become new parents, and continue following Jesus as he establishes our steps each day.
Despite this being an overwhelming transition, we are praising God for his care and provision amid so many changes.
We thank you for your continuous prayers for our Family and Friends Fellowship in Ukraine. Every week we meet online and see the Lord’s provision and guidance at these meetings. Recently we’ve been going through 1 Corinthians. We are excited about the questions and reflections people bring to the table every time. One particular member of our fellowship shared how our meetings and group dynamic changed her perspective and understanding of Christian fellowship. She also mentioned how this is a life-giving gathering for her and she always prays we can all make it to the meeting because everyone has something unique to bring to the meeting. Praise God!
Even as we enjoy fellowship and discipleship with Ukrainians, God has gone ahead of us and prepared opportunities to serve him here in the local community in Wilmore. The OMS-Asbury Student Center serves students from Asbury University. The director, David, has invited us to explore ways we can serve in the discipleship and mobilization opportunities that exist at the student center. A wonderful God-thing is that David engages students in discipleship using materials from the Inspire Movement! We are encouraged that our experience appears to fit in with what God is already doing here! We are also excited to enjoy fellowship with Inspire folk around Wilmore.
Please pray for:
- Grace and peace as we adjust to living in a new culture, being students again, preparing to be parents, and serving as everyday missionaries in the place God has us for this season.
- Mental, physical, and spiritual protection and growth for Ukrainians in Ukraine! Please, hold in prayers our Family and Friends fellowship members, and other individual people we interact with in Kyiv, Poltava, Rivne, Lviv, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, and Kharkiv.
- Praising God for these opportunities and also pray for us to be attentive and obedient to the Holy Spirit as we meet students and discern how God is leading us to engage with them.
