The name of Jesus

There is power in the name of Jesus – to heal, to restore, to overcome, to save, to cast out demons, to set people free, to reconcile, to bring peace, to… the list goes on. And yet, we so often forget that there is power in his name because God who gave it to him! And one day everyone will bow at theme of Jesus and confess that he is Lord.

Have the same mindset as Christ Jesus,

Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place 
and gave him the name that is above every name, 
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, 
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, 
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2: 9-10. 

Take some time each day to focus on the name of JESUS and allow God to speak to you as you do. Here are some ideas about how you might do that:

• Write the name of JESUS in large letters on a piece of paper or post-it-note and pin it up where you will see it throughout the day.
• Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to declare the name of Jesus at regular points in the day.
• Mediate on the scripture, “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”  What does that mean for you today?
• If you are struggling to declare the name of Jesus, ask your fellowship band to pray and speak the name of Jesus over you.
• Speak the name of Jesus over other people as you pray for them.
• Use a glass marker, or lipstick, and write the name of Jesus on your bathroom mirror so you are reminded every morning that Jesus is Lord of your life.
• Talk to your fellowship band about the difference is makes to speak the name of Jesus over yourself and over others.
• Listen to songs that remind you of the name of Jesus. Think about the promises they declare and claim them for yourself as you listen. Below are a few suggestions.
