Will You Ride With Me?

Recently we were visiting family in Texas. As we were driving down a rural farm to market road one day, a white horse and a white mule (initially I thought it was a donkey), captured my attention. We turned the car around to snap a photo.

Jesus is lowly and meek, yet all powerful. I was reminded of the imagery of Revelation 19. I was reminded of how the lowly and meek One who entered Jerusalem by “where the road goes down the Mount of Olives” (Luke 19:37) on a lowly donkey, this same Jesus who gifts us with His power and presence will come back in the same way he ascended from the Mount of Olives (Acts 1:11-12). And John saw Him riding a white horse.

“…Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. (Revelation 19:10c-13)

A few days later, as I sat on my mother’s patio, I sensed the Lord saying, “Chance, will you ride with Me?

The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. (Revelation 19:14)

Yes, Lord, I will ride with You, but we must make ourselves ready. Your church must make herself ready. I must make myself ready.

“…Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.) (Revelation 19:7-8)

Will you let Me purify you? Will you let Me apply My blood to cleanse you? Don’t wear any tourniquets, remove the tourniquets and let My blood flow freely through your veins.

What are the tourniquets that I am wearing Lord? Then comes a time of confession and forgiveness. The holiness of Christ produces the righteous acts of God’s holy people.

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)

Am I ready to mount up and ride? Yes, you are. Do I have the proper attire for the wedding supper? I am putting it on you. And then I could sense the Spirit clothing me in the righteousness of Christ like a blanket, like wearing a mantle of His glory.

“Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.” (Revelation 16:15)

Who will ride with Him? Who will stay awake and clothed in the Spirit? Who will have a lamp filled with oil? Who will have the flame of love fervently burning in their heart? The enemy will wage war against the Lamb and all who are in the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph. Who will triumph with Him? His called, chosen and faithful followers.

“…They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.” (Revelation 17:14)

1. His called followers … His beloved whom have decided to live where Jesus is staying.

“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon. (John 1:39)

2. His chosen followers … His beloved selected personally by the Master for such a time as this.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other. (John 15:16-17)

3. His faithful followers … His beloved whom remain in His love, filled with the Spirit of Christ. Faithfulness is a fruit of the Spirit, the fruit of the One who is called Faithful and True.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-25)

…because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. (Hebrews 11:11)

Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, who rides the white horse is called Faithful and True. He has made the promise. He is faithful. He can be trusted and He will do the impossible to the glory and praise of God!

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9-11)

“This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Christ as a light;
Christ as a shield;
Christ beside me on my left and my right.”
(Prayer of Saint Patrick)
