Only God Could Do That!

Am I Aware of God’s Presence in Daily Life?

I have always loved it when you can see the sun shining through the clouds in beams. I have often commented that it looks like heaven breaking through to earth!

On the 19th March a team of GB Missioners went to deliver a training retreat in Darlington, in Northeast England. The drive up there was spectacular. We set off early just as the sun was coming up. It had been a fairly cold night so the sun’s hot rays were evaporating the dew and causing a mist to hang over the ground. As we drove the mist was lifted, leaving a beautiful day, clear blue skies and that amazing, surprising, early spring sunshine.

We arrived at the venue a bit early, giving me the time to wander around the grounds. It felt surreal…so much had been put into this day, we knew numbers were going to be small but we also knew God absolutely wanted us to still go ahead and do it. As I walked around the grounds I became aware of God’s presence so clearly!

I noticed spider webs dripping in dew, the way the grass glittered in the sunlight, the way the sun shone through the trees and caught the last remaining mist, and even the pattern of the branches on a tree. It was like the whole of creation was singing God’s praises as only it knew how.

It was a wonderful way to prepare myself for the day where God clearly showed up and did what only God could do. People’s hearts were warmed and not just by the sunshine. God was able to break down barriers and encourage us as we met. He refreshed those who were weary, settled those who were anxious, encouraged those who were feeling discouraged, gave confidence to those who were feeling downtrodden, and surprised those who were expecting a dull Saturday of boring jobs.

Only God could do all that!

God’s splendor is a tale that is told, written in the stars.
Space itself speaks his story through the marvels of the heavens.
His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky,
showing his skill in creation’s craftsmanship.
Each day gushes out its message to the next,
night by night whispering its knowledge to all.
Psalm 19: 12-2 The Passion Translation

Hallelujah!
Let all creation stand and sing:
“Hallelujah!”
Fill the earth with songs of worship,
Tell the wonders of creation’s King.
