In case you hadn’t noticed…it’s hot outside. Y’all! I don’t.do.hot. If someone could turn on the a/c outside, I would greatly appreciate it!
In our newsletter back in July 2022, I reflected on Isaiah 58:11 and I was reminded of this verse in a conversation just a week ago as someone prayed over me these words of Isaiah.
“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
It is hotter now than then, the stress is in some ways even heavier than a year ago, we seem to feel more exhausted as each month passes; however, we see His provision even more acutely every day. From unexpected income and gifts to free tire repair while traveling, He sees our needs and provides in ways we could not imagine.
On the days when I am struggling to find the strength and the mental capacity to keep moving down the ever growing to-do list, to catch the curve balls that continue to be thrown over the plate, and to keep the positive attitude in the midst of the frustrations and the disappointments, I hold tight to the One who takes the time to water my garden. The One who tills the soil and plucks out the weeds and leaves behind a garden which is beautiful and lush and vibrant, even when the world surrounding it is dry and sun-scorched. A “well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
We had busy a August with Inspire teaching retreats in Texas and Mississippi. We have some “Taste and See” evenings in September with a local church in Ruston, LA, to introduce House Fellowships. And we are preparing a proposal for a church in Florida for a weekend training event in February. The School of Discipleship online courses begin soon. And on top of all that there is homeschooling, house renovations, fundraising for our support, and Brian is teaching a couple of courses too.
Misty and Brian are Inspire Missioners based in Louisiana, USA and travelling to take Inspire around the USA. Read more about their journey and how to support them here.
