Let There Be Light

From our day of fasting and praying for Inspire last Friday (27 October 2023):

“And God said, “Let there be light! And there was light.” (Genesis 1:3)

As I was praying this morning I sensed the Lord saying: Constant love destroys the darkness. My unfailing love is a battle axe destroying the works of the devil. [Let people be] dumbfounded by grace. And then I sensed an invitation of sinking [deeper] into the boundless love of Christ. The Spirit was inviting me to pray for light to gush forth.

This reminded of a word from earlier this week: “Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.” (Luke 18b-19).

“Because power was coming from him and healing them all.” The Son of God who lives in you and in me has power simply flowing from him. Our very presence in the midst of the darkness with eyes gazing on Jesus begins to change the chaotic world around us. Or with a simple word, “Let there be light! And there [is] light.” The power of Yahweh gushes forth into the darkness setting things in motion for transformation. Let the Lord’s people be dumbfounded by grace. As we move and work in this season may we be a people who pray for light to gush forth.
