A little after midnight on Saturday (Nov 18), we welcomed a precious baby girl into our family. Zoe Marie is full of light and life, and her head is full of hair! Each hair has been carefully numbered by her heavenly Father. I am giving thanks for the omniscience of the Lord our God and for his intimate care and favor for his children.

Early on Friday, about 24 hours before Zoe’s birth, I received a message from my grandmother asking if there was any baby news. Later that morning about 4a.m., a member of our house fellowship was prompted to begin interceding for Suzanne and baby Zoe. By mid-morning a routine checkup brought on some concern from medical staff and a trip to the hospital to prepare for Zoe’s birth. As the day continued another friend, prompted by the Holy Spirit, messaged to pray for Suzanne and Zoe. There were tense moments as Zoe transitioned into receiving her first breath of air. From what the doctors reported I am certain there were other moments that we were unaware of in which her life was in danger due to the wrapping of the umbilical cord around her neck several times and her arm.
“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” Psalm 147:5
Father God in his great power, mercy and understanding, enlisted warriors to pray for Zoe. How many times has Holy Spirit prompted wordless groans (Romans 8:26) and tongues in brothers and sisters around the world for us over the years? We will never know, but our Father is never surprised and He is always on time. He is familiar with all our ways, He knows us completely (Psalm 139:3-4). He loves us with an everlasting love and draws us with unfailing kindness (Jeremiah 31:3). Jesus is near! Thanks be to God!
