Robin shared some of his quiet time practices with us as an encouragement for us all to press in deeper with God. He uses a number of acronyms to help him in his quiet time each day …
In my quiet time, after reading a scripture, I ask myself WIGS
What
Is
God
Saying?
I ask myself what am I doing to witness to 4 core values (WEST) –
W – Wanting more of God?
E – Exercising the discipline through the means of grace?
S – how am I Sharing & being accountable?Â
T – how am I Telling others about Christ (with joy & passion?)
[Notice how they map onto the four values of the Inspire Way of Life! Seeking Growth, Using Spiritual Disciplines, Sharing Fellowship and Engaging Mission]
I then ask the Holy Spirit to prompt me through expressions of ACTS:
Adoration
Confession
Thanks
Supplication for others.
I finish with a shortened version of the Ignatian way: PRAY:
P – Practicing the Presence;
R – Reviewing the events of the previous day:
A – Asking the Spirit to show me how I can do better.
Y – examining myself (Yourself) over what was good or bad and resolving how to do better.
I close my quiet time with the Lord’s Prayer.
