I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the LORD;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
Psalm 34: 1-5, ESV
It was many years ago that this Psalm became part of me. The language is clear. “I will bless the LORD at all times…” at all times, which seems ridiculous, but that’s what it says. It’s not the obscure passages of the Bible that baffle me (Genesis 6: 1-6), but the passages like this one that are clear as a bell. I’m to give thanks in all circumstances, and boast in the LORD. In the KJV verse 5 says that all who look to him are “lightened” and their faces are not ashamed. I take it to mean the LORD will take my burden, and I will give thanks in all things, and rejoice that I can place myself in the hands of the LORD.
