Rhythm of Life

It felt like a God-incidence, not a co-incidence, that we received three separate refections from three different people within a week about rhythms of life in this unusual season. Maybe the Lord has something to say to you through these.

“It feels like all our rhythms are out of sync. Everyday life seems to be in disarray. The new-normal is nothing like normal. It is really hard to get into a routine when it seems like things change every day and sometimes multiple times a day.  But when I pause, I find myself thanking God for His rhythms that do not change. Every day the sun rises and sets, even when I can’t see it for the clouds! The moon and stars shine every night. The tides ebb and flow. The spring flowers are blooming, the summer sun will warm us (not as much as we might like in some places!), and, in its time, the winter will return to give the earth rest.  The day is yours, and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon. It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;  you made both summer and winter. Psalm 74: 16-17 NIV

Lord, help me to set the rhythms of each day, with you. Teach me how to take one day at time, with you. Show me how to be disciplined in creating healthy routines, with you. So that I can say every day, with you, that This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.  (Psalm 118:24 NIV)”

“God has been challenging me in this time of uncertainty where routine and rhythm seem out of the window, that He is the one true thing that we can rely on. He is our rhythm for life.

Lord, we pray that we can raise a generation who rise with you and fall asleep singing your praises.

Here is how we are creating a rhythm. When we get up in the morning, I open the curtain and sing: Rise and Shine and give God the glory glory… As I close the curtains again at the end of the day, we praise and pray: May the Lord, bless you and keep you. Make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up his face and his countenance upon you and give you peace. Amen.

“Something my husband and I have done each night before bed is each one of us prays for the other. Even when we have been apart we call and pray for one another before bed. We also pray for our baby daughter before she goes to bed each night. This is a small and simple practice that has blessed us, in all seasons. It is easy to start and keep going.”

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. (Heb 10:23)

If you have stories of hope, words of encouragement or good ideas for ‘motivating one another’, then do please share them with us. And/or if you would like us to pray with you, please contact us: prayer@inspiremovement.org
